Fall is Here

I love the fall weather. Yesterday, I took the kids out and took pictures. I might use one for our Christmas card this year. It was so nice to be out in the cool air and see all the leaves changing colors and piling up in our yard.

The things kids say....

People always say that you should take lots of pictures of your children when they are young or write down the funny things they say or do because one day you won't remember.

Well about a year ago, I started keeping a journal about our kids. I write down funny stories or cute stages they go through in hopes that one day I will pass on this journal on to their children. Whether it is used for blackmail purposes or a good laugh is up to my future grandchildren.

One of my favorite stories is last July when I ran a stop light in front of the police station, not one of my prouder moments. Alayna had been talking non stop and I wasn't paying attention. The nice policeman that I passed when I ran the red light, pulled me over.

Our kids were so amazed. When he came up to the window, Alayna saw his gun and asked loudly "Is he going to shoot you mama?" If that wasn't embarrassing enough, Brantley said also loudly "Are you under arrested?" I am sure the cop thought I must be really guilty of something. I tried to explain that my daughter was talking so much that I got distracted. I started to ask him to drive around the block with her, then he would see what I meant.

I still got the ticket. I ended up having to go to driving school to get it dropped. I wasn't happy at the time, but now it ended up being a good story to pass along and a good learning experience for my kids that even grown ups pay a price for breaking the rules.

A few weeks later, our interim pastor preached about how sin was like a ticket and when you asked Jesus to come into your heart, your sin "ticket" was ripped up. During the invitation, Brantley was begging me to go forward and have my "ticket" ripped up. I know the people sitting around me thought what a sweet child he was trying to get his mom to go forward and accept Christ. I am sure they though I was a cold hearted mom who wouldn't go forward. I guess I should have taken the ticket out of my purse and went forward.

First day of School

Brantley is now an official second grader. He loves his new teacher and talks about how funny she is in class.

He did get caught daydreaming today. He said his teacher asked if he knew where they were in the book and he told her no that he was in "la la land." I could not believe he actually told her that. He told me he was daydreaming about wrestling. I am hoping he didn't tell her that.

This summer his favorite new hobby is to watch wrestling (which we limit). He bodyslams his stuffed animals and pretends he is John Cena. He and Mike came up with wresling names. Brantley is "World Champ Bman B." and Mike is "Nachoman Morgan" They are so funny to watch. After dinner, they have "wresling shows." Alayna won't let them exclude her though, she is Mike's tag team partner and her wrestling name is "Flowerpot," sounds intimidating, doesn't it?

Easter 2008

Brantley & Alayna dresssed in their Easter outfits and checking out what was in their baskets. They really love the "egg" hunts we have at Nana and Grandpop's house. They had one at Gram's house too. We have way too much candy now.... They always forget about their candy, but Mike and I don't. I had to throw alot of it away.

Brantley Turns 7

Brantley turned 7 on February 5th. We had his friends over for a "boys" party and then a family party on his actual birthday. He had alot of fun with his friends. I quickly had to pull out everything I could think of, so they would not sword fight all night. Alayna and baby Kate sat in the chair and it was a good hour before Alayna would get up and talk to anyone. It was a too wild for her. Brantley loved it and had a great time.

Christmas 2007

It is now April and I am just now getting around to putting our Christmas pictures on our blog. We did have a great Christmas and this year was relaxing. Alayna misses Christmas and asks weekly when it will be Christmas again. Brantley is a little more realistic, but he is working on his list now for December.

Lemonade Anyone?

Brantley decided in November that he wanted a lemonade stand. Nevermind, that is was freezing outside, he was ready to start his own business. We talked him into serving hot chocolate too. For the first hour, nobody came, so we snuck inside and called our family. Sure enough they stopped by and so did a few neighbors. It was a success. He hasn't mentioned having another one though...
